TVERD is one of the leaders of Russian pagan scene formed in 2007 on the base of renowned Russian band PAGAN REIGN by Vetrodar (the main composer and musician of PAGAN REIGN). Pagan Reign doesn’t play nowadays and TVERD in its turn continues the line of the previous band in a natural way. The Spirit evoked in previous albums is also continued, with the musicians, who reconstruct the atmosphere of ancient times in Rus and Europe and display their deep regard for their nation, history, culture and native slavonic beliefs. To create their Slavic Epic Pagan Metal TVERD uses authentic instruments of Rus’ and Medieval Europe such as pipes, flutes, reeds, whistles, zhaleyka, domra, mandolin and authentic percussion. The vocal parts are also very varying, ranging from screaming to opera and folkloric vocals, male and female and the folk choirs.
TVERD was formed in 2007 on the base of renowned Russian band PAGAN REIGN by Vetrodar. In PAGAN REIGN Vetrodar played the lead guitar and all parts of folk instruments, and he took all these responsibilities in TVERD together with scream vocal parts. Ratibor, Vetrodar’s good friend became the second guitarist of the band. The magician of drumsticks Demosten also entered TVERD. Sigurd, Vetrodar’s farther, became the bass-guitarist. The band had an idea to use classical vocals in their music. Thus, Vetrodar and Ratibor offered Svetlana Lebedeva, the leader of folklore and ethnographic music ensemble of Tver State University to take responsibility for the female folk and opera vocal parts. To record the composition “Bogatyr’s Gate“ a kind of metal folk opera, and some other parts TVERD invited Gnesin school graduate, “Tver’s gold voice“, Alexander Ivanov. So, at the end of November 2007 the band began to work at the new album. And by the end of April 2008 it was finished.
