SHADOW HOST is famous as one of the first Russian melodic power/speed metal bands, called “Russian Blind Guardian” by the critics and the fans. They supported the shows in Moscow of such metal legends as Blind Guardian, Grave Digger, Stratovarius, Edguy, Nightwish and Gamma Ray.
Formed at the end of 1993 by the guitarist Alexey Arzamazov, SHADOW HOST became one of the first Russian bands playing melodic power/speed metal. The debut album “Twilight Legend” saw the light of day in 1997. The critics and the fans called the new band “Russian Blind Guardian”. The debut was followed by EP “Downfall”. In the autumn of 2000 the vocalist Sergey Kayumov was replaced for Segrey Sergeev (later – the vocalist of ARTERIA, the band organized by the former ARIA and KIPELOV guitarist Sergei Terentyev). With Sergeev the band re-recorded the material of the first releases and published it under the name “Neverland” in 2002. On 27th of October 2002 SHADOW HOST supported the show of its gurus - BLIND GUARDIAN in Luzhniki Sport Hall. Later on the band supported the gigs of such international metal stars as Grave Digger, Stratovarius, Edguy, Nightwish and Gamma Ray.
In the beginning of 2003 the new guitarist Andrey Smirnov entered the band as a replacement of Alexey Martynov. (Some time later Smirnov organized his own band EVERLOST, since 2008 Smirnov is also a member of legendary ex-Soviet/Russian heavy metal band MASTER.) The music of the band became more professional, the sound got heavier. In the beginning of 2005 Sergey Sergeev left the band due to artistic differences. He was replaced by Victor “Anger”. With his vocals the band recorded its latest album “Curse Of The Angeleye”. |
